about

I suppose I should put my name here, in case anyone finds it after I’m gone, after we’re all gone. Assuming of course someone will be left to find it at all, but I can’t help but fear that once I’ve taken my last breath and closed my eyes to sleep the sweet sleep of silence and bliss, someone will still be coughing and sputtering through this sunless, putrid place, someone who will be in desperate need of some hope.

I haven’t eaten in days. I don’t know how many. My eyes are having trouble focusing. I’ve been humming a little poem to myself that I made to keep my mind alert.

When the world outside
Gets dark and cold
I’ll still get by
When it gets too dark
To find my way out
It’s alright, I’ve still got light

I see things behind my eyes. The beauty that surrounds me is different than it used to be. The sun is no longer full and bright. My waking hours are lit by a rust colored moon.

It’s alright I’ve still got…

lyrics

Rusty Moon

I don't recognize this place anymore
The stars don't shine like they did once before
Hidden truths can't be denied
As a rusty moon fills the sky

But it's alright

When the world outside
Turns dark and cold
We'll still get by
When it gets too dark
To find our way home
It's alright, we've still got light

We used to live for the night
Cities would illuminate the sky
Shades of blue now fade to gray
As the rusty moon lights the way

And it's alright

When the world outside
Turns dark and cold
We'll still get by
When it gets too dark
To find our way home
It's alright, we've still got light

The beauty that surrounds us
Is different than it once was
No longer full and bright
But it still shines its light
