It’s dark. Can’t tell if it’s night. Been dark for so long. Day and night seem to blend. Sleep and waking. Everything charred. Everything smoking and covered in ash. Ash in my eyes. Hard to keep them open. So dry, my eyes. Only thing that helps is to cry. So I’ve been crying. Crying and crying out for her, for anyone. Can anyone hear me? Is anyone out here with me?

I’m sorry. I’m so so so sorry. Can you hear me? I said I’m sorry. WE’RE sorry. We’re all sorry. We didn’t mean it to end up like this. We didn’t know. We’d take it back if we could.

It’s so dark. Feeling around like a blind man. Only light is from dying embers. They seem like bright flares compared to this darkness. And they are warm. Seems selfish to feel cold but I do. Cold.
