Even though I ceased work on my Dark Star experiment, it seems the Dark Star had not finished with me. Now as my Spaceman and I huddle together by candlelight and pray, my Quantum detector squeaks and squawks and threatens to overload the power grid. The signal I am receiving was one my equipment was never designed to receive. And yet there it is, anomalous, looming, full of meaning that I can’t understand.
When I revealed my work to him, the room vibrated. It hummed with a low, low hum that seemed to reach in and resonate within our very bones. I asked him if he could feel it trembling too. He did.
But the message is dark, just like the star that sent it; there is terror in the message, despair.
And now as we hold each other, it pains me. I can feel it ending, everything ending. That’s what this signal is; a sign of the apocalypse that we all fear deep in places we barely know in ourselves.
And now my love has to go and be the Spaceman. He has to see what it means. He refuses to sit by, in our little corner of the world while it all comes crashing down around us. He says he won’t be long. He says he will return. He has forever been the seeker of answers, the cosmic questioner. While I have been the one who opens our insides, our atomic level loneliness. And he will be the one to close us up again and make us whole.
But I fear that we will never see each other again. The Dark Star grows. It divides. And it warns us of things to come.

Apocalyptic Love Song
Painted picture
Skies are falling
As our bodies hit the ground
I see you whisper
Are you calling?
Because I didn't hear a sound
Can you feel it trembling?
Beneath you it all comes apart
Can you feel it ending... can you?
I'll keep pretending
That this isn't ending
But it all depends on me
This is our little love song
This is our corner of the world
Just the last little love song
That will ever be heard
Perfect moment
Earth spinning faster
While our hearts were standing still
Souls colliding
With heat astounding
But now we feel the morning chill
Can you feel it trembling?
Beneath you it all comes apart
Can you feel it ending... can you?
I'll keep pretending
That this isn't ending
But it all depends on me
This is our little love song
This is our corner of the world
Just the last little love song
That will ever be heard
Atoms fly
It's do or die
I've seen the signs
Made up my mind
It's almost time
Atoms fly... it's do or die
All of this ends tonight
Can you feel it trembling?
Beneath you it all comes apart
Can you feel it ending... can you?
I'll keep pretending
That this isn't ending
But it all depends on me
This is our little love song
This is our corner of the world
Just a last little love song
It will never be heard
